[atrb=width,400] don't let them take the fight out of you Shelbeigh never got tired of how warm it was in Florida. Granted, she had never been anywhere colder during the fall and winter months, but she was perfectly happy with her location. The school day dragged on for her. She just wanted to get the hell out of there and just go home and relax. It was the first day off from winter cheerleading and she still needed time to relax to get ready for her first season as co captain for lacrosse. It has been a pretty busy junior year for her. It seemed like she hasn't stopped for anything. Her grades were staying to her usual A's and B's. She wasn't a star student, but she was pretty smart with the honors classes she was taking here at First Colonial. Shelbeigh liked her school to an extent. The classes were managable and the people were tolerable. Except one, who she was determined to avoid today - Nick Hale.
Shelbeigh and Nick never really seemed to get along, but if the time came she would make amends with him. He was more of an annoyance to her. A very attractive annoyance, which is one of the reasons he got underneath Shelbeigh's skin even more. He basically thought he was God's gift of Earth and she could not stand that. Yes, he was very handsome and charming, but Shelbeigh would never fall for his games. It almost seemed to an on looker that these two would probably be meant for each other one day. Yet, Shelbeigh cringed at this idea. She didn't understand why she would get a weird feeling in her stomach when she'd see him. It was probably nausea, she thought to herself most of the time. No way would she give him the satisfaction of being attractive to her. Shelbeigh would not allow it. She was SO not interested.
It was finally 2 o'clock and she was looking to book out of school immediately, but remembered that her sister Marissa had to take some tests after school and she pinky swore she'd drive her home. Well that, and one of the reasons she'd agreed was because Marissa would be paying for their favorite ice cream and rental movies to watch tonight. Shelbeigh couldn't complain, it was pretty enjoyable to be spending time with her sister. Her mind kept drifting to Nick. "Shut up Shelbeigh, he's a jackass." She thought to herself. She remembered how she saw him talking to her sister Marissa and having just a WONDERFUL conversation. Shelbeigh eyed him suspisciously as he was getting dangerously close to her sister. Marissa came home and absolutely gushed about him. Shelbeigh knew it was time to take matters into her own hands and completely bitched him out over IM. Anything to keep her sister out of trouble. She didn't baby her, but she needed to give this kid a wake up call. Shelbeigh decided to go into the court yard and do a little homework. She plugged in her headphones to her iPhone and listened to some music whilst cracking open her calculus book on this beautiful day in Velocity.

Nickolas Damon Hale ran with the popular crowd for sure. He was a jock, he played every sport under the sun, and his dad was a world famous actor. He didn't hesitate to let people know that when they asked where his dad was. Nickolas figured he was one of the coolest people at this school which was great with him. High school was king for him and he was almost free of it. One more year after this almost finished year, and he was done with high school for good. Then he was on to college and make that a fun place to be too. Nick was always finding something fun to do, which wasn't hard, especially in Velocity. There were so many interesting people to meet and he just couldn't explain it. He loved Velocity. He fit right in with the popular crowd, where he had always fit in, but he felt like he belonged here. As much as he missed Idaho, Velocity was great. He'd already gotten laid. He had a girlfriend who was a freshman that he was planning on ditching soon. Zoey Richardson, sister of Brady Richardson. Brady didn't scare Nick in the least and now that Nick had gotten into Zoey's pants, it was time to move on.
School was finally over and Nick went to his locker and grabbed his stuff. He didn't have any practices today so he could get some homework done as he was really, really behind in his homework. In fact, if he wasn't careful, he wasn't going to pass his junior year, which would be embarrassing. He didn't want Ethan Stark passing the year and not him. That'd be bad. So he decided today was homework day even though Zoey wanted to hang out with him. He wasn't sure whether to break up with her to her face, or over text. Nick didn't really want to deal with her at all actually. He'd already cheated on her a few times and it was time to just sever the ties. He didn't want her to think that they were getting married or anything. No way. He just needed to drop her before she got way too attached. She was already too attached and plus, Nick didn't like her brother, Brady. Brady was a freak of nature and Nick knew something that even Zoey didn't know. Zoey didn't know that her brother was on drugs but Nick could tell. Nick knew what high looked like and it was definitely Brady. He was hooked on something heavy too.
Nick got all his books and headed out to the courtyard so that he didn't have to go home and do his homework. He just wanted to stay here and get his homework done so that his parents weren't bugging him and shit. He went outside and saw the girl that had harassed him over instant messaging for her sister or something. Nick decided to warn her not to do that again because nobody talked to him like that and got away with it. He walked over to her with his backpack slung lazily over one shoulder. "I'd appreciate you not being a total bitch over instant messaging. I don't put up with that kind of shit. You don't treat me like shit, I won't treat you like shit. Agreed? You don't know my life so I don't need you fucking judging it, all right? Move on and find something better to do than harass your fellow classmates."

Shelbeigh had way to much homework to even function. Her iPhone had the earbuds plugged in with her music blasted all the way up. The entire world was tuned out, right now it was Shelbs and this beautiful English paper on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Shelbs had to choose a book from the early to mid twentieth century to right a reflection on and she chose this one from the list. She surprisingly loved it and couldn't put it down. She finished it in about 3 days, taking in all the details of the book to write a kick ass paper on it. She knew she was going to get an A, she could feel it. When you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. Those wise words from Back to the Future got her through most of her school years here at Velocity. ESPESCIALLY this year as it is the most important year of one's high school career.
Shelbeigh finished up her paper, now she just had to type it up and she would be finished. A sigh of relief escaped her lips and she smiled at herself. Her music still blaring, she switched it to the beat the cheerleaders are using for their routine. Shelbeigh was one of the head tumblers and was practicing her two to a tuck. Basically meaning two back handsprings to a back flip or tuck in cheerleader / gymnastic terms. After that move mastered, it was time for the most challenging of all - perfecting her full. A full was when you would do a round off back handspring into a flip that made you twist your whole body around in the air. If she got that down pat, she'd be the first cheerleader on the team to get it down and may have a spot for captain next year as it was really impressive. Shelbeighs reverie was disrupted by a male voice talking to her and she looked up. Her heart pounded in her chest, but no one would have noticed.
Aaaaannnnnnnd here he is. The asshole himself - Nick. Shelbeigh looked up at him while he chewed her ass out for protecting her sister. She rolled her eyes slightly and calmly stated her opinion on the matter. "Do you really think you intimidate me? I'd appreciate it if you'd get out of my personal space and quit swearing at me right now. You're clearly making an even bigger ass out of yourself than some already know." Shelbeigh started to say. Her tone matter of fact with a hint of biting sarcasm - her trade mark definitely. She bit her lip and looked down after she gave him a piece of her mind. "Look, sorry for judging you. I didn't mean to harass you but you can't blame me when my sister comes home in tears because you haven't called her back."
[/b] Shelbeigh said to him quietly as she grabbed her books and stood up to face Nick Hale. She could definitely see why Marissa was into him. He was pretty good looking, but nevermind that now. Shelbeigh sighed as she started to walk away. "I really gotta start playing nice now" She thought to herself. She let out a sigh "I'm not like that, so .... I .... apologize."[/b] She basically forced that apology out of her but it was sincere, Shelbeigh was just to proud to say so. However, when Shelbeigh Rae Beaumont knows she's wrong she will say so and this out of the rare times in the world, she was kind of wrong to judge him. BUT he's still not on her good side right now. Even if she can't get his shaggy brown hair and bright eyes with that sexy smirk out of her head. She started to walk away. "NOT HAPPENING SHELBEIGH." Shelbeigh thought to herself. Right now, she kind of felt it would be best to get far away from Nick as possible even if she felt like she did not want to leave.
