********************Melody needed to get out of the house. Her aunt and uncle were on her case again about something that she didn't do or didn't do right. She was going insane. It was only nearing seven o'clock. She sighed in relief. It wasn't that late, which meant her friends wouldn't be sleeping. Well she hoped that they wouldn't be sleeping yet, considering it was a Friday night. She quickly changed out of the clothes she had worn to school that day. She decided on an outfit more casual then what she usually wore. She slipped on a pair of blue shorts, a red tank top, and a grey graphic tee. She slipped on a pair of black flip flops that were next to her door and grabbed her purse and her car keys off of her desk, along with her phone. She walked out of her room, closing the door behind her, and headed downstairs. "I'm going to a friend's house. Don't wait up," She called out, heading to the front door. She heard her aunt and uncle call for her as she closed the front door behind her, but she didn't stop. She headed straight to her car. She got in and started it, pulling out of the driveway, just as the front door opened and her aunt and uncle stepped outside, yelling something or another. She ignored them and kept driving. She knew they would call her in a few minutes, but she had no intention of answering. She drove to her best friend James's house, hoping that he was home and not out with his boyfriend. She pulled up to his house just as her phone started ringing. She clicked ignore as she parked her car and turned off the engine. She got out of the car and walked up to the door, ringing the doorbell. "Please be here, James," She said to herself as she waited. **********

i'm tongue tied and terrified of the things i'll say Discomfort raged through James’ body as he shifted positions on the couch by the minute, finally giving up after the fifth turn over. He stood up and excused himself from the movie he was watching with his little brother Zack, and he picked the boy up with him, who was pretty much over the movie anyways. He carried the small toddler into the kitchen and set him on the counter, leaving him there as he made some macaroni and cheese for him. He was only home for the night, as it was that he was working on moving completely into Jayden’s house but Zack needed a babysitter. It took a lot of convincing, but Jayden agreed to him coming over for a couple hours for the sake of the two year old, but James knew that his father not being around was the main reason his boyfriend allowed him to come under the roof he’d been beaten under. He finished his little brother’s meal up and kissed the boy’s forehead, setting him down in his high chair where he would eat.
James inhaled and exhaled deeply, running upstairs for a moment to change his clothes out of his sweaty football uniform. He had come straight home from the weight room, after football practice and hadn’t felt like changing until now. He grabbed a quick, two minute shower before changing into some casual clothes. He put one of his Pokemon hats on to cover up his wet, ruffled blonde hair as he came down the staircase and approached his little brother once again, immediately cleaning up the mess he saw. “Aw, Zack… come on.” He muttered under his breath, unsurprised that Zack’s macaroni managed to make it onto the floor and all over the two year old’s face. He wiped it off the floor and got a new washcloth to clean the kid’s face up, not wanting to use something unsanitary to clean him up. James couldn’t stay mad at the toddler for much longer, the giggles he gave off easing his entire body and summoning a smile to his face. “You’re really lucky you’re cute…” he said quietly, and perked up when he heard the doorbell go off.
As he walked away he heard a little, “I know,” which made him chuckle lightly as he opened the door to the sight of one of his closest, and best of friends, Melody. He smiled brightly at her and took her into a tight hug, taking her hand and leading her into the house.“Hey! What are you doing here?” He asked happily, sitting down on the couch and patting next to him.

********************Melody tapped her foot gently as she waited for someone to come to the door. She looked around and couldn't help but smile gently. The nights in Florida were beautiful, always the perfect temperature it seemed, never too hot or too cold. Tonight was no exception. It was warm, but it had a nice breeze that helped to cool down the night. She hadn't been able to actual enjoy the night as she was leaving her house considering she had been in such a rush to leave. When the door finally opened, she sighed gently in relief and smiled when she saw that is was James who had answered. She hugged him back when he hugged her and then followed him into the house. She shrugged gently. "I really needed to get out of my house," She started as she sat down next to him, smiling at his little brother who smiled back. She had to admit that Zack was such a cutie. "Hey Zack Man," She said to him and smiled when he returned the greeting. "My aunt and uncle were driving me crazy. I had to get out of the house. I remembered you telling me that you were babysitting tonight, so I figured I would come here and see if you still happened to be here." She smiled at him. "So here I am." It felt good to be out of her aunt and uncle's house, even if it was just for a little bit. There was no one constantly trying to talk to her about stupid crap that she really didn't care about. She looked around the room before returning her attention back to James. "I wanted to see if you wanted to watch a movie, but I see that you already have that covered," She said with a light laugh. **********

i'm tongue tied and terrified of the things i'll say “Man sitting!” The little boy chanted, summoning a roll of James’ eyes and a laugh. James picked Zack up and put him in his play pen, leaving him to do his toddler duties. He walked over and sat on the ground, looking up at Melody and tilting his hat backwards. “Ah, yeah, well you’re welcome here anytime. Oh! One thing though, I’m moving in with Jay this weekend… so it won’t always be, y’know, here that I am.” He told her as he bit his lip, not all too sure that he wanted to get into the details of all that drama. He scratched the side of his face and leaned back onto the couch, still keeping his focus on Melody. It was hard for him to keep his attention on one thing at a time normally, but his ADHD was at an all-time low for the first time in a while.
“Oh, well we can watch something… you know, maybe OTHER than The Brave Little Toaster,” He told her with a grin, laughing jollily and looking at the paused screen with a big, smiling toaster on it. “You know, I really never did like this movie, but it’s Zack’s favorite.” He told her and tossed a ball into the air before gently throwing it her away, it was one of those squishy balls that you got for anger management. It was Benny’s; their mom had gotten it for him shortly after the shooting because he was snapping at just about everyone that whole week, and it helped him greatly. Plus, the cats loved it. “Anything knew going on in the world of Melody?” James questioned, grinning her way. “I believe we have some catching up to do.” He told her, rolling onto his back, laying on the floor.
He planned to tell her all about the situation with his dad and boyfriend, but not yet. He would save that for later, after they talked about her some. He didn’t really want to think about that stuff anyways, his week was stressful, and he didn’t need that. The weight room had really released some of that excess stress though, so he was thankful for that, even if his muscles were a little bit sore.

********************Melody couldn't help but smile and laugh when Zack said man sitting. She looked at him as he was placed in his playpen. "I apologize little man. I meant to say man sitting all along," She said. She watched him start to play with her toys and smiled again. She looked at James for a moment, a little shocked by what he said. "You are moving in with Jay? That's awesome James," She said as she smiled. James and Jayden were extremely cute together and she was really happy for them. "I guess from now on, I should text you to see where you are. Don't want to just show up at this house randomly if you aren't here." She laughed gently. Melody shook her head. "Yeah, I never cared for this movie much either. The first time I watched it, yeah it was cute, but after that, not so much anymore," She told him. She thought for a moment. "We could always watch a classic. You know, like the Lion King or something. Maybe we can make Zack get a new favorite movie."She shrugged gently when he asked her about how everything was going with her. They really hadn't just sat and talked for a while. She had to admit that she missed it. She missed just talking with him. "Besides my aunt and uncle being, well, my aunt and uncle, everything seems pretty good," She said and paused. Should she tell James about Brandon? She sighed and then looked at James. "Uh, well Brandon asked me if I wanted to make us official. And I sorta agreed." It felt weird to say it out loud. Sure Brandon and her had been flirting a lot recently, but to actually say they were 'official' felt strange. **********

i'm tongue tied and terrified of the things i'll say Moon light danced across the sky and into the living room, seeping through the thin glass door that was only a room away but the size of the house managed to make the light or lack of light spread. The house’s lamps were dim and the fall wind pounded against the windows occasionally, but as rough as they were, they provided only a warm breeze that filled James’ senses with delight. He leaned over and kissed Zack’s head, playing with him with one hand as Melody suggested what movie to watch and told him how cool it was that he was moving in with his boyfriend. He was super excited himself to make the official move, but there was definitely some stuff he’d miss around the house, particularly the little boy in the pen next to him. “Yeah, definitely. You know the digits, girl.” He said with a sassy tone, but he was very clearly joking, and the grin on his face made it even more blatantly obvious than the laugh that swam under his breath. “Yeah, exactly!” James chanted, making a face at the movie and sliding with his knees over to the movie case, looking them all over and finding one after looking past a bunch of his sister and brother’s movies. He pulled the lion king out and stuck it in the DVD player, hitting play and waiting as the advertisements went on and paying attention mostly to Melody now. He picked his little brother up and held him close, sitting down on the couch and patting next to him for Melody to sit with him. He was about to say something about her uncle and aunt, but it wasn’t relevant, and he froze at what she said. Brandon? He made a little bit of a face but brushed it off, nodding, not quite angered. He was used to his best friends hanging out with guys like that, it was just how life worked out for him. When your best friends are the popular chicks, this shit just kind of happens to you. “Oh… well, does that mean he can’t beat me up?” He said with a laugh, trying to find humor in the situation at hand.

********************Melody couldn't help but smile as she watched James play with his little brother, Zack. He had always been a good older brother to him. She laughed gently when he told her that she knew the digits before she shrugged. "I don't know. It's been a while since you gave them to me. I could have lost them by now or my phone could have deleted them. I will have to check," She said. She laughed gently again, shaking her head slightly. She loved James's sassy tone. It suited him well. She watched him as he slid over to the movie case and looked through the movies. She smiled when he pulled out the Lion King. In all honesty, the Lion Kind had always been her favorite movie. Only a few selected people knew that small fact about her. In fact, she could only really count three people that actually knew about it. When he patted the spot next to him, she stood up from her spot and smiled. She walked over to where he was sitting, rubbing Zack's head purposely messing up his hair as she walked by, and sat down in the spot next to James. Melody watched as he froze and made a slight face. She knew that he wouldn't be that happy to hear about her and Brandon. There was no loved shared between them and she knew that. Part of her felt bad for dating, if she could call it that, Brandon because of his hatred for James, but he was just incredibly hot. She smiled at his attempt to add humor to the situation. "Well he better not beat you up anymore," She told him, "If he does, I am going to have to have a stern talking to him." **********
