personality: when you look at ethan, you instantly think "dumb jock" and guess what? that's exactly what he is. he doesn't want to be dumb and tries to hide the fact that he is, but he doesn't think before he talks so sometimes its hard for him to hide it. he tries to act more smarter and more talented than he is, but its only because it's how he's had to act all of his life due to having the "perfect" older brother, according to his parents. he doesn't feel as valued as he feels he should at home and it bugs him that he can't live up to his parents' expectations.
his grades are pretty much shit, but he does try, he even secretly get's tutored (he doesn't want his friends to know because he thinks they'll make fun of him). there are things he is good at, like for one, football, though he hasn't been able to play a game yet, due to the two seniors as the main quarterbacks, but he's ready for next year when he's a senior so he can really show off his moves. he works out a lot because he's very focused on being fit and looking good. he's also a really good swimming and can actually accustom to anything athletic he tries.
he's immature and laughs at anything his friends do, he doesn't make his own enemies, it just happens because of the crowd he hangs out with. he doesn't bully, even if his friends do, he usually just sits back and laughs. he isn't mean or an asshole of any sort, he just seems like he is if you don't get to know him. sometimes its hard to tell when he's being real or pretending to be something he's not, he tries to play the asshole jock, but in reality, he just doesn't have it in him. also, the only time you'll see him mad is when it comes to his parents, his stupidity, or the fact that he isn't able to play football. he can be extremely hard on himself which is one of his worst qualities.
if you really got to know him, which no one has really tried, you'd see he was actually a pretty good guy with a good heart. he's cooperative (always up to do whatever, no matter what it is), courteous, devoted, friendly, generous, kind, open-minded, selfless, sincere, and trusting. you see, he's really likable, but because of the people he hangs out with, no one is really able to see that side of him, they just assume he's an arrogant jock just like the rest of them. he doesn't really defend himself either when people assume that, he just lets them think what they want because he thinks its a lost cause trying to prove himself. he has enough of "proving himself" in his life, he doesn't need anymore.
history: ethan was born into a pretty wealthy family. his father was in the NFL for a few years, before he blew out his knee and had to retire, but he still has a majority of the money he made from his NFL years. his mother had already had both of her boys by the time the injury came about, so she got a job at as a news anchor, having her degree in communications already. Ethan's older brother is 3 years older than him and is their parents' golden child, he's on a football scholarship and has the best grades ever. Ethan has always been in his brother's shadow and was always expected to live up to the same expectations. but the thing is, he's not like his brother, despite how much he tries to be. he loves his brother but he knows he'll never be able to make his parents as proud of him as they are of his brother. ethan isn't the smartest guy and because the football team has two seniors as their quarterbacks, he hasn't been able to really show off his talent as a quarterback.
