Kayden Jeremiah Grace had moved here for a couple of reasons. One of the reasons was to get away from his stepdad and help his little brother, Kane, do the same. Another reason was to go to college. He was in college for Law and he was doing pretty well in his classes. The main reason that Kayden had moved here was because his father, Jude Walker, lived here. Kayden wanted to find and meet the man that had allowed Kayden Jeremiah Grace to exist. He was tired of having no father and though it seemed Jude would probably be just as bad as his stepdad (considering he hadn’t stuck around to raise Kayden), he still wanted to meet his father. He wanted to form his own opinion of his father rather than rely on what his mother had told him. She’d basically said that Jude was a liar, scammer, and a prick. She’d also told him stories of Jude cheating and just being an asshole in general. If Jude really was an asshole, Kayden wouldn’t mind, because if he was honest with himself, he was an asshole too. He got up and put some clothing on, but nothing too fancy, just comfortable clothing. It was a Saturday and this was the day Kayden had decided to go to his dad’s house. It had been easy finding Jude… He was right in the phone book, and Kayden had just written the address down. Hopefully Jude was around because Kayden had no desire to come back if someone else answered the door. Kayden Jeremiah Grace hoped he wasn’t going to be messing up a whole family by introducing himself… He was slightly worried about that but he just assumed it was Jude’s own fault for creating him.
Kayden ate his breakfast slowly. He was antsy and he didn’t exactly want to show up early. The very thought of meeting his dad scared him. What was Jude going to be like? Was Jude going to hate him for coming here? Did Jude even know that Kayden existed? His mother had said yes but what if she had been lying? Kayden had caught her in a whole bunch of lies, it wouldn’t surprise him if she’d lied about Jude too. Did Jude have a family? Did Kayden have half-siblings other than Kane? He kind of hoped not because he already would have to get to know one family member, he didn’t want to have to get used to the idea of siblings. Kayden went into his small living room in his two bedroom apartment and switched on the TV and started playing some Call of Duty. Kane woke up and they played until about noon. After that, Kayden got some lunch and Kane said he was off to the beach to go swimming for a while. Kayden Jeremiah Grace decided it was probably time to invade on his dad’s life. It was time to stop being a coward and introduce himself to his father, and maybe a family if his father had one… And they were there, but it was time to make an appearance because after all, that was the main reason Kayden had come in the first place. He grabbed his keys and his wallet and stuck them in his pockets. He walked down two flights of stairs, after locking his door, and got into his truck, driving down the road, looking for the address he’d written down.
It took him about a half hour to find the place, mostly because he kept getting lost. He parked on the curb and got out, breathing deeply. Kayden Jeremiah Grace was never nervous about anything but he was on the verge of a panic attack now. He stood on the doorstep of the house, double checking it was the right address, and knocked on the door softly. He rubbed his neck nervously and ran his hand through his hair. When the door opened Kayden wanted to die. The man standing in the doorway looked a lot like Kayden except Kayden had more muscle mass, but that was from working out and playing football. “Are you Jude Walker?” He sighed unhappily. He felt like he was about to ruin this man’s life.

Jude sat at his dining room table staring at the papers before him. He was in the middle of a divorce and the process was starting to drain him, but with each meeting they were getting closer to the end. His wife just kept asking for more though, but he was confident she’d be fine with the terms he had just come up with. He knew how to handle her and he knew that all she wanted was money, she didn’t want custody of the kids nor did she want any of his possessions. She was already completely moved out of the house, everything was moved to her home in New York. The kids weren’t taking it so well, but that was mostly because they were starting to realize how little their mother actually cared about them. He tried his best to comfort them, but there was only so much he could do really.
He looked over all the terms and nodded to himself, truly believing that their next lawyer meet up would go along much easier and they could just sign the divorce papers and walk out of each other’s lives. With the number he had written down of how much money to give her, he knew she could easily live off of it; that is of course, she didn’t splurge it all on bullshit, but that was her own responsibility. Jude just wanted out so that he could move on with his life and start actually dating again, preferably dating Katy. He didn’t want to have to hide anything again, especially something as serious as a broken marriage. He sighed and rubbed his temples, this divorce was starting to drain him and he just wanted it to be over with.
A knock was at the door, which interrupted his thoughts; he looked around, trying to think of who could possibly be at the door. His kids were out, so he was home alone, but he wasn’t expecting anyone. Maybe it was one of the kids’ friends looking for them? It was actually weird that Beccah was even out right now, she had been home a lot lately, especially after everything that has been going with her. He grabbed his papers and put them in the manila envelope in front of him, closing it and leaving it on the table. He stood up and walked towards the door, he wasn’t in his normal suit attire. He wore plaid pajama pants and a light grey tshirt, he was obviously still in his comfort clothes. He walked over to the door and opened it, seeing a young man standing before him.
He wasn’t sure if he knew the male from somewhere, but he looked a little familiar. His thoughts were everywhere right now; he couldn’t really even attempt to place it. ”Uh, hi. Yeah, that’s me,” he said with a light smile, but noticed the boy not being so cheerful. He was a little confused but obviously the stranger wanted something, ”how can I help you?” he asked politely.

Kayden wasn't much of a talker and now he was just kind of confused on what to say. What was there to say? Hey dad, you gonna start acting like my dad just because I've shown up on your doorstep? He looked at his dad. Jude was muscular but not nearly as muscular as Kayden. The only kid that was about as muscular as Kayden, was Ian Madison. Both had a rivalry going on, especially as far as beer pong went. Ian was undefeated when it came to beer pong. Nobody had beat Ian and Kayden never failed to try. Both ran in the same circle but it seemed that Ian was a lot quieter than most of the football kids. Ian wasn't nearly as rowdy as Kayden and the rest of the boys. Kayden Jeremiah Grace was the biggest asshole out of the bunch and Ian was the quietest and most polite. Ian got along with everybody and Kayden got along with barely anybody.
In order to pay for the apartment, Kayden was employed in construction. He was always working when he wasn't at school. He was taking the summer off though because he was hoping to get to know his dad, and if not, then he was going to hang out with Kane and make some more party buddies. He was taking the summer off of college though because he had no desire to work on his degree. Plus, Kayden needed more hours at work. Kane was starting high school next year and was going to need clothes to keep him from getting made fun of. Kayden wasn't going to allow Kane to get made fun of at school. Kayden looked at Jude and gave a half smile, "It's nice to meet you." Kayden looked at the ground, feeling extremely awkward. He didn't really want to be talking about how this dude had gotten laid with his mother.
Kayden was not accustomed to feeling awkward. Usually he didn't care about talking about stuff like this, but this was his dad... This was the reason Kayden existed and he had ditched Piper... According to Piper. He looked back up at Jude and replied, "Do you remember Piper? Piper Grace? Your one night stand, nineteen years ago...? Yeah, well I was the result of that so um.. Hi Dad." He frowned and his eyes went immediately to the ground again. The last thing Kayden wanted to do was mess up Jude's life. He didn't want to intrude but he had always wanted to meet his real father. He didn't want to hurt a family life and he didn't want to be a part of Jude's life if Jude rather he just left. Kayden could easily leave.
"I just moved here with my half brother, who's not your kid, I promise. I'm going to the University so uh, I thought I'd stop by and meet you... Get my own opinion about you. My mom hates you and tried to get me to hate you too... But I prefer to form my own opinions about people. I can leave your life and you can pretend I never existed if that's what you want. I don't really care. I'm just glad I stopped by."

Jude looked around a little to see if there was anyone else with him, maybe like a little solicitor team, but no, it was just the boy. He didn’t look like he was selling anything; in fact, he was starting to give off a bit of an awkward vibe, which only made Jude curious. ”it’s nice to… meet you too,” he said still wondering what exactly the male wanted. It was sort of bugging jude that he looked so familiar, but if this was their first meeting, then he couldn’t have met him before, could he? He looked him over as he waited for him to answer his question. As soon as he heard the name ’Piper Grace’ he narrowed his eyes, trying to think of the name. It did ring a bell and when the memory came out of the boy’s mouth, it became more vivid in Jude’s mind. Yes, he remembered her, it was the last girl he had slept with before his wife. He had slept with her during one of his on and off break ups with Jen, but never did he think he’d be reminded of that again.
His eyes widened a little and his jaw dropped as he looked him over again, so that’s why he looked so familiar, he could see some of himself in him. He wasn’t sure what to say right now, he sort of felt like time froze or he was getting punk’d or something. He didn’t think the boy was lying, hell, why would he be? And who else would know of Piper after nineteen years? He didn’t say anything at first; he just listened as he tried to process it all. This wasn’t what he needed, not now, not with everything that was going on. But he had no choice, it was here and right in front of him and he had to decide what to do with this new information. ”Uh, wow.” he ran his fingers through his hair as he took a breath.
”Why… I didn’t know she got pregnant… “ he said trying to think way back, but couldn’t even do that. ”What did she say to you about me?” he asked, curious, she hated him and she tried to get their kid to hate him too? Jude had sort of did the whole hit it and quit it ordeal, but if he would have known he had knocked her up, things might have panned out differently. At least, that’s what he though. Most people in his position would think that she knew he had money so she sent her son to go see if he could spare some of it, but not Jude, he wasn’t like that, plus, apparently Piper hated Jude. ”No, I… I’m glad you came, it’s just… a lot to process,” he took another breath and bit his lip as he thought. ”I’m not like that,” he shook his head, ”uh, do you want to come in? this is kind of an odd conversation to have at a doorstep.” He said taking a step back and inviting him in, he wondered if it was weird for the kid to go meet his father and show up at the address and seeing a big giant house.

Kayden saw Jude looking around to see what was going on. No, Kayden Grace was not selling anything. He wouldn't really do that if someone asked, unless he was really desperate for the money. He wasn't much of a sales kind of guy. He looked up at his dad and gave an awkward chuckle when Jude said it was nice to meet him too. This wasn't really a nice situation to be in. Kayden replied, "Sorry. I'm just trying to figure out how to word shit to you." He sighed and peered in the house a little bit. The place was huge and Kayden Jeremiah Grace was not used to having money or anything. Not that he was going to start having money now that he met Jude. He just wasn't that way. He wasn't after money. He was just wanted to meet the guy that created him and hoped he wasn't as big a douche bag as his mom insisted he was. Kayden saw Jude narrow his eyes and he immediately became fearful. Maybe Jude was just as bad as his mom said. Maybe Jude was a complete jackass, like Kayden was. It was probably wrong to be here.
Jude probably didn't like Piper anymore than Piper liked Jude. Kayden let his eyes wander and ran a hand through his hair. He was trying not to show he was nervous. Kayden sighed as Jude dropped his jaw. So he was the douche bag that his mom said he was. He considered just walking away and going to shoot things on Call of Duty or something. If Jude Walker didn't want Kayden Grace around, he wasn't going to be around; however, he wasn't going to walk away until he was sure his judgement was correct. He wanted verbal communication that said he was to go away and never return. That would be fine with him. If Jude didn't want Kayden around, it would be okay. It would just be Kayden and Kane against the world... Though Kane was weird so maybe it'd just be Kayden against the world. "Sorry I'm dumping all this on you randomly like this. It can't be the best way to do it but I didn't know how to make it any easier..." Piper would be proud of Kayden right now because Kayden Grace was being polite. He was never polite. He was a jackass by nature and liked to make sarcastic comments and be generally rude but for now, he could be nice.
"She didn't want to tell you. She didn't think you'd stick around and she didn't want to mess up your life because of me, even though you messed up hers, apparently." Kayden frowned. This wasn't easy to talk about and it probably wasn't easy to here. Jude didn't seem like that bad a guy. Sure, he seemed confused and upset but he didn't seem horrible. He hadn't kicked Kayden off his doorstep yet. "She said you were the kind of guy that didn't care about anybody but himself. You stole her future by getting her knocked up by me. Apparently you stole money from her? She made up all kind of stories about you but I bet it was just a one night stand, right? She said things like she was totally in love with you and you broke her heart on purpose, and then laughed about it with your wife or something.. Or a girlfriend. I don't remember." Kayden was making no accusations. He was just giving Jude the information that his mom had given him. He felt bad for even saying this because so far, it seemed like none of this was true. It seemed that his mom was just lying all over again. Kayden was glad that he and Kane had gotten out of that place, out of all that drama. "She has another boy toy now. Don't worry. It's my little brother's dad. He's here with me because he's just as much a liar as my mom probably is."
Kayden half smiled and replied, "I'm sure it is. No big deal." He stepped inside and his eyes widened a little bit more. This guy had to be rich. It was so odd being in here. He just wasn't used to it. Kane would be relishing this place so Kayden was glad he hadn't brought his little brother, even though the support would have been nice... Not that Kane was much of a big supporter. "I'm sorry if I'm invading or if this is a bad time... I didn't really want to be a nuisance... Just to meet you and form my own opinions about you, rather than relying on my mom's useless mouth. So far, my opinions are quite opposite of what Piper says about you."

Jude really couldn’t believe what was happening right now, for the last 19 years he had another child in the world and he wasn’t even aware of it. His life wouldn’t have been what it was now, that was for sure, but that still didn’t mean he wouldn’t have wanted to know back when she first found out she was pregnant. Jude would have stuck around and helped her, despite his relationship status with his soon to be ex-wife. He sighed and rubbed his temples for a moment as he tried to process it all, He shook his head, starting to get really mad that Piper didn’t tell him. ”I would have stuck around if she would have told me,” he said mostly to himself, but to Kayden as well.
He frowned as Kayden told him all the stuff that his mother had told him about him, truly taken aback by it all. He felt bad that she told such lies about him and he wasn’t even aware that she even had feelings for him, or that he had knocked her up. ”woah, woah, woah, woah, woah… no, I didn’t steal anything from her…and I didn’t laugh afterwards.” Just when Jude thought things in his life couldn’t get more hectic, it did. ”it was a one night stand,” he confirmed, ”I was younger and stupid, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I came off like a dick afterwards, but I would have stuck around if she told me,” he said being honest. ”I’m not like that, I take responsibility for my actions,” he said seriously. He robbed her of a future? Hell, she robbed him of seeing his kid grow up and become a man.
He nodded as Kayden told him about his mother’s current situation, ”is it just you and your brother?” he asked, concerned. Jude closed the door behind them and kept his eyes on kayden as he walked inside, he still couldn’t believe that he had another son, an older one at that. ”you’re not… I was just… filling something out but thanks for coming by and getting your own opinion on me,” he said rubbing his hands together. He was starting to get a little nervous, ”no one’s home, the kids are out… doing teenage things,” he shrugged a bit, wondering if it was weird that he was talking about his kids around Kayden. ”here, we can sit in the dining room,” he said leading him there and pushing the manila envelope on the table aside. ”you want something to drink? We might be here awhile,” he asked not sitting down yet, ”I’m sure you have a lot of questions, I sure as hell do,” he said with an awkward smile. He had never been in this situation, but he was doing his best in handling it. It wasn’t everyday that you were told that you had another kid.
