Lucia sighed softly as she pulled at her shirt. She really shouldn’t have worn a shirt that was so… exposing of her back. She had scars on her back. People questioned them all the time. Of course Lucia’s response was ‘Fuck off and mind your business.’ She rested her head in her hand as Mr. Thomas continued to teach Math. Summer school was almost over for the summer. Lucia couldn’t wait until classes were over until September. Math had never been her strongest subject. She kind of loathed it to be honest. It was always a plus when one liked the teacher though. Mr. Thomas was a teacher Lucia wasn’t horribly afraid of. Since most of her teachers were male, she was wary of them. Lucia’s plans for after summer school ended today were to head to the beach. While she was someone who was prone to burning the slightest exposure of sunlight to her skin, she wanted to have some color. Even when she did burn, when the sunburn healed, it turned into a tan. She glanced up at the clock again. Five more minutes left before freedom for the weekend.
The minute the bell rang, Lucia was up and out of the room with a “have a good weekend Mr. Thomas” before wandering down the hall with a bounce in her step. For the first time in a ling while, Lucia was in a happy mood. She wasn’t feeling bitchy or in a temperamental mood. It was pretty damned rare for Lucia to be in a happy mood, that she wasn’t jumping at every sound, or snapping at the littlest of things. She had a small smile gracing her usual straight face. Lucia made it to her little apartment within fifteen minutes. She hummed softly as she fished out a bikini out of her drawers, along with a beachy skirt. She shimmied out of her clothing and slipped on the bikini and skirt, making sure the top was secure. Slipping on a pair of flip-flops and gathering a few things to put into her beach bag. Lucia slipped on a pair of sunglasses and went on her way.
It wasn’t often that people saw Lucia Thorne without a shirt. She was very self-conscious about her back. She had quite a lot of scars on her back. Scars lined her back, long and short. All from a either a belt of whip. She was very secretive about her past because of the severity of it. She wouldn’t have wished it on any single person, not even her worse enemy. She shook her head, clearing her mind. She couldn’t be thinking like this. She ignored the stares people shot at her and bounced towards the beach. The slight smile on her face was still plastered on. Humming softly, she knelt down and picked up her flip flops the minute her feet hit the hot sand. She had not even realized she passed by Mr. Thomas as she shielded her eyes from the sun. Lucia unconsciously shifted and flinched when someone bumped into her. Hearing a ‘sorry’ tossed over a shoulder, she just waved her hand, her motion saying that it was fine.
She found a spot, a little secluded area away from other people and settled down. Laying onto her stomach, she grabbed the psychology textbook she wanted to read. She liked psychology; it was something that interested her. While she already had her idea of what she wanted to do in life, Psychology would be her backup should the Nursing not work out. She slipped her sunglasses off and dropped them onto the sand. Cradling her head in one hand, she turned the page as she continued to read.
