OUTIFT, 480 WORDS, TAGGED FOR ALANA, BLIND DATE “Dress nicely,” his friend warned him via text, though the boy was quite mistaken in waiting so long to send it. Dylan was already at the destination given to him, around fifteen minutes early in his most casual of clothes. Oh the fuck well. He rolled his eyes as he deleted the text, primarily because he didn’t plan on responding and didn’t like his inbox clogged up, but also because his best friend waiting until the last minute to text him that pissed him off just a tad. The corners of his lips pulled back into a frown as he tapped impatiently on the table top with his knuckles, his eyes focusing on nothing in particular. He knew it was probably not good to be starting off a blind date in such a poor mood, but he couldn’t back out of it now. He could, actually, but he wasn’t going to because Zane promised him that the girl was cute as hell and he was just too nice of a person to walk out anyway. Truthfully, he didn’t even know what he was looking out for, hence the blind date part of the situation. Luckily, the diner was empty and it would be pretty obvious for her to figure out that he was the guy she was looking for.
Lately it seemed like his life was becoming routine. For some people this may have been alarming or annoying even, but it comforted Dylan, in a sense. Things in his life always had a hectic way of happening and after so many years of unpredictable fights and other negative things, it was a relief to live boringly. The majority of his afternoons were spent lying on top of his covers, blowing smoke out of the window, and listening to music as he contemplated his life and where he thought he wanted to go with it. When he wasn’t doing that, he was shooting up some bitches on the Xbox live or chilling with Zane. He spent the majority of his time with the other guy, really, but they had been best friends since the beginning of time and it wasn’t like he minded Dylan’s company. Honestly, he probably appreciated it now more than ever. While Dylan wasn’t exactly the most compassionate person in the world, he knew how to make a person feel good and he always tried to do that for his friends when they needed it. His attention turned to the door as he heard the bell that alerted the workers of a person entering the diner go off, where he then took in the sight of a stunning girl who looked to be just around his age. He couldn’t help smiling in her direction, but he could only hope that she was actually the one meeting up with him and not just some girl who happened to walk in.

”I am… kinda… I made the stupid decision of asking my sister for her help, she convinced me to wear a dress,” Alana replied into the phone, making a puking noise, just to show off how uncomfortable she was. She wasn’t a girly girl at all, in fact, she rarely wore skirt or dresses at all. But she had made the mistake of telling her older sister about her blind date and Eva had talked her into wearing a dress. She attempted to push heels onto her, but no way in hell was Alana going to live that nightmare. She knew she’d probably injure herself if she even attempted that, so she drew the line after agreeing to wear a dress. After that she practically ran away from her sister to decide the rest of her own attire. She never really went on dates, mostly because she just hung out with boys on a regular basis, just in her usual attire.
She didn’t want whoever she was being set up with to see her as just a hang out buddy, so she knew she had to at least try a little. She wore flats, a leather jacket, her I love boobies wristband, and her skull ring so that she still showed more of herself, even if the dress would definitely throw someone who knew her well enough off. If the guy was turned off by her tomboyish additions or her personality in general, then he wasn’t worth it, right? ”You know if this is some kind of joke, I’m murdering you, right?” she made sure that was clear to Zane, who was on the other end of the phone call and the person that had set her up with his friend on this blind date. She was cool with Zane, in fact, he was definitely one of her favorite people in the world, but sometimes the kid was a jokester and he knew how to annoy her if he wanted to. So she still wasn’t sure about this whole blind date thing, why did he even care to set her up? He had told her that she’d like the guy and that he was just her type, practically the male version of her, so she was curious to see who Zane saw as ‘her type’.
Alana had never went on a date before really, unless you counted a day on a fieldtrip, holding hands with a boy who believed in the buddy system way too much a date? But for one of her first to be a blind date? That was pushing it, but what did she have to lose? She was single and she somewhat trusted Zane’s opinion, but she was a risk taker so she was down for the most part. She stood a few feet from the entrance of the diner and looked at the door, ”bye, I’ll talk to you later,” she replied and hung up the phone, slipping it into her jacket pocket. She was never one for purses, she wore messenger bags sometimes, but that was it. She rather just use her own pockets for her keys, money, and phone. Why wear the extra baggage if it was unnecessary?
”How the hell did you talk me into this, Zane?” she asked herself out loud as she mentally gave herself that extra push she needed to actually make her way to the door. She took a hold of the handle, almost pushing instead of pulling, as she usually did with stupid doors like these. She walked inside and looked around, her hands in her pockets comfortably. The place wasn’t even close to being busy and there were a few people seated some in pairs and about three individuals seated alone. Her eyes ran over a lonely hobo, then a woman then an extremely attractive boy her age. With her luck, it was the hobo that was waiting for her, but she had to give Zane the benefit of the doubt. Even he wouldn’t risk pissing her off if he knew there’d be the wrath of Alana to answer to afterwards. Alana wasn’t like other girls, if she wanted to rough you up, she would. She could always hold her own and most males saw her as just one of the boys, but she was used to it. Plus, she liked it, she liked that her classmates knew not to mess with her, unless they wanted to get punched or talked back to.
After a few seconds, she decided to take her chances with the youngest of her choices, especially since he was the only one looking in her direction. She took a breath and head towards him, offering a small smile as she approached him, ”please tell me you’re who I’m supposed to meet here because 1, I don’t want to murder my buddy Zane before we beat Assassin’s Creed 3 and 2, I refuse to believe that I let my sister talk me into wearing a dress for a hobo that probably smells like the black plague,” she said looking at him, really hoping he was the one waiting for her and that she hadn’t scared him off with her honesty. ”if you’re not the guy, I’m sorry to bother you, but remember my face, just in case I go missing tonight,” she joked, trying not to make this any awkward than it already felt by talking before she thought about it. ”either way though…” she nodded, ”sup?”, god she was so bad at this.
