A light giggled escaped Jasmine’s lips as she read the text message from her foster brother, Caspian, which read ‘YOU LEFT ME ALONE WITH THE KRAKEN? What if it wakes up :c’. She shook her head and replied, she really liked her new life here in Velocity. It wasn’t always easy moving from place to place so much like she did, but she always made it work and enjoyed whatever god put in front of her. She was starting to think that this home would actually stick, her foster parents were pretty awesome and she was really getting along with her foster siblings. Well, Caspian at least, her foster sister, Josie aka the Kraken, was a little tough to get along with sometimes, but she wasn’t all bad. Plus, Jasmine always saw the good in everyone, no matter how deep down their good is hidden.
She slipped her cell phone back into her bag and looked up as she heard her name called. She was standing in Valentine’s Café and she had been waiting for her iced mocha to be ready, which it finally was. She smiled lightly at the person who called her name and took her beverage, looking around for an empty table. She finally spotted one and made her way over to it, placing her drink and her small slice of banana bread she had just purchased on the table. She took her bag off from around her shoulder and placed that on the table two. She took a quick sip of her drink, wanting to see what everyone was raving about whenever they talked about this place. She smiled as her eyes lit up, ”mmmmmm!” she said to herself, obviously impressed by the fantastic taste of the cold beverage. ”definitely coming back here,” she said and put it back down. She started to dig through her bag and finally pulled out her binder, which held most of her poems. Some on loose paper, some inside the notebook she had inside. She opened it and almost at the same time, someone had opened the front door nearby, causing one of her papers to fly out of her folder and make its way through the café. ”Oh no!” she called out as she hopped out of her seat, ”can someone, please get---?” she looked worried as she tried to get to it. It seemed to have a mind of its own thanks to the wind and she hated pushing through people, it was so rude.

It had been a very productive morning for Dean thus far. He had awoken this morning around his normal time, went for a run, and then even decided to hit the gym. He normally never worked out in a gym, preferring to find ways to work out outside, but today he made an exception. He decided that he needed to work out his arms in order to keep the muscle mass up. He had spent nearly an hour lifting weights before he decided that it was time he left. His arms felt a little sore as it had been a while since he had worked them out that hard, but he didn't mind. No pain, no gain, right?
He headed to the locker room where he quickly showered and changed his clothes, putting his work out clothes in his duffel bag. He headed out of the locker room and out of the gym, going to his car. He threw his duffel in the back and started the engine before driving away from the gym. He could feel his energy beginning to slip, in part because of the late nights and early mornings and in part because of all the physical activity he had done that morning. He decided that he needed coffee if he didn't want to go home and just crash.
The drive to Valentine's Cafe was short from where he was and it didn't take him long to reach the small coffee shop. He loved it here. They had the best coffee in town and the staff was incredibly nice. He pulled into the parking lot and found a spot and parked the car. He got out and headed to the door. He pushed it open and as he did a gust of wind blew past him. He heard someone call out and he looked up to see a girl chasing after a piece of paper. He heard her ask for someone to pick it up as there were people in her way.
The paper blew up to him and he stepped on it with his first so it wouldn't blow away. He leaned down and picked it up. He walked over to the girl and held the paper out for her to take. "Here you go," He said to her and smiled lightly. "I think that was my fault. Sorry about that. I should be more careful with doors." He laughed lightly and shrugged.

Jasmine could only hope that her paper wouldn’t get ruined, it contained one of the poems she wrote and she didn’t want to lose it. She tried her best to get to it quickly, but the café was popular so the place was a little crowded in certain areas. Before she knew it, someone had walked up to her and handind it back to her. ”Oh my god, thank you,” she flipped it over to make sure it wasn’t ruined, which it wasn’t. She flattened it out, trying to make it look like it did before and looked over at the boy finally. ”oh no, it’s okay. At least it’s not ruined, right? Could have been worse,” she shrugged and offered a smile, she was never one to get upset over things like that. To be honest, she never got upset over anything really, she was such a happy individual and she didn’t like to have any sort of negative energy around her.
She couldn’t help but notice how attractive the boy was, ”I’m… Jasmine, by the way, thanks for saving my poem, I don’t know what I would have done if I lost it,” she said holding the paper close to her with one hand and holding out her other one for him to shake. ”I’m new around here,” she added, ”so I don’t know a lot of people,” she said, just trying to possibly make a new friend. She looked to see if he was with anyone but it looked like he had shown up alone.

As Dean handed the girl back her paper, he couldn't help but shrug lightly as she thanked him. He shook his head and smiled at her. "It is no problem, honestly. It was the least I could do," He told her, "And sorry about the, um, footprint on it. I had to step on it so it wouldn't blow away again." He smiled at her again and nodded when she told him that it could have been worse. "That is true. It could have been a lot worse. I am glad I managed to catch it in time before it got ruined. I would have felt horrible if that happened, more so then now."
He looked at her and smiled. He had to admit that she was really pretty. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little guilty afterwards for thinking it. He was with Zoey and he loved her. He took her hand in his and shook it. "Nice to meet you, Jasmine," He said, "My name is Dean." He shrugged his shoulder again and shook his head. "And don't mention it. I am just glad that i could save it for you." He smiled at her. "When did you move here? How are you liking it so far?" It seemed that lately a lot of new people where moving to Velocity, some liking it and some hating it. To him though, Velocity was just home and he didn't mind it. He had a stable group of friends that kept this place throughly entertaining and fun. "Are you going to be attending First Colonial at the start of the school year?" Dean had always enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. While he mainly stuck with Fate's Eight, he did like to branch out from them every once in a while and hang out with other people.

”The footprints in the back of it, so its okay…I can rewrite it later or something. Really, it’s okay. Disaster averted,” she said offering a genuine smile, she really wasn’t at all upset about it and she felt bad that the boy felt bad about it. ”how about you join me at my table after you get your drink and maybe you won’t feel so bad about it?” she suggested happily. ”I could use some company,” she added, she had already revealed to the boy that she was new around there so she was obviously just trying to meet more people. She shook his hand gently and slowly retrieved her hand back, ”nice to meet you, Dean,” she said politely. He seemed nice so far, in fact, most of the people in this town were nice, unless you counted her foster sister, Jocelyn. She was probably the grumpiest individual Jasmine had met so far in Velocity.
”About two weeks ago and uh, it’s great actually… it’s such a pretty city. Much bigger than where I used to live, but I love it. I haven’t seen as much as I want to yet, but so far, my favorite place is the park. It’s such a perfect place to just relax and write. It’s so peaceful and so green” she replied, she almost felt like she was talking way too much, but she couldn’t help it sometimes. She liked giving people full answers instead half ass ones. She nodded at his question, ”yes! As a junior, what about you? do you go there?” she asked, he definitely looked like a high school kid, she just couldn’t peg him on which grade he was in.

Dean smiled lightly at her when she told him the footprint was on the back so all was good. He ran a hand lightly through his hair. While she told him it wasn't a big deal, he still felt bad about it. he gave her a small nod and smile when she suggested that he join her. "Um, yeah, that sounds good," he said, "Let me just go get some coffee and then I will join you." He smiled at her again when she shook his hand. He looked over to the counter and noticed that it was empty. "Well, I think I am going to go and get my coffee before another crowd comes in. Do you want anything?" He figured the least he could do was offer. It would seem rude if he didn't.
he nodded as he listened to her story and smiled again. "Have you met a lot of people since you have been here?" He asked her. He listened as she explained how Velocity was bigger than he old town and he shrugged. "It's a decent sized city. It kinda gets boring after a while though. But then again, I have lived here my whole life so after that long, most things get boring." He shrugged gently. "But I like the park too. I love the swings and the slides." He smiled at her. He knew he sounded like a little kid, but he didn't care. He always had a soft spot for swings and anything that allowed him to relive his childhood. He was a kid in an almost adult body. He hated the fact that he was growing up, although his parents always told him he had the mental age of a six year old. He nodded when she asked if he was a junior. "Yeah, I am a junior. So all most of my best friends as well."
