Harley found herself staring at a pink and white little baby girl’s dress and her heart ached a bit as her eyes scanned it. She never was a fan of pink, but it reminded her of her baby girl who she had just lost in labor weeks ago. She could picture her now, in this dress, happy as can be, but that cheerful thought quickly dissolved when the memory of her dead baby came to mind. That memory had been haunting her ever since it happened, she almost wished she didn’t see it, but she had to, it was her baby girl, she just had to. She’d hate herself if she kept herself from at least seeing her. As the memory flashed through her mind, she closed her eyes and took a breath, trying to compose herself. Losing a baby was the most difficult thing Harley had ever gone through and she was still trying to deal with it. She had a good amount of support from her friends and family, and Benny was trying his best to stay strong for both of them, but even he had to break down sometimes.
Harley opened her eyes and walked away, not wanting to torture herself for any longer. This was supposed to be her shopping out day, Benny was taking care of the kids at home and she’d bring them food on her way back. She walked over to the cashier and placed the items on the counter, she had picked out a few cute outfits for Luke. The cashier tried to make conversation but Harley wasn’t as into it as she normally was. She was nice though and replied politely as she paid for her things and took her shopping bag. ”thank you,” she said quietly as she walked out of the baby clothing store. She had gotten to the mall about an hour ago and so far she had purchased boots and these baby clothes for Luke. She wasn’t done though, she still needed to get herself something, and she sort of wanted to get Benny something to, she didn’t know what, but she figured a gift for him would be nice.
She looked around at the different store names; there were a few new ones since the last time she had been there. It was almost like she was in a different state or town, but she still recognized some stores. She saw one store that looked like it had edgier clothes, which Harley liked the most, so she headed towards that one. Retail therapy didn’t always work, but it was definitely helping. As soon as she walked in, her eyes caught eye of a familiar looking brunette in one of the aisles. She tilted her head a bit to get a better look and she immediately realized who it was, ”Sadie?” she said walking closer to the girl. ”Hey,” she gave the best smile she could right now.
Sadie was Alex’s girlfriend, who was both Benny’s cousin and Harley’s usual babysitter from time to time. She had met Sadie before and seen her around a lot, but she had never really gotten a chance to talk to her one on one. ”You here by yourself?” she asked, wondering if Alex was around or one of the girl’s friends. ”This is probably the first time I’ve seen you like… not in one of our houses or the Rune household,” she said, trying to make a little conversation. She had always wanted to talk to the girl, she seemed nice plus, Alex was great, and if she was his girlfriend, she had to be pretty awesome herself. Plus, Harley didn’t have a lot of girl friends; she was sometimes too blunt for females her age, so she got more along with boys.
