And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are
Melody had been driving around Velocity for about the last thirty minutes. It was Saturday afternoon and her aunt and uncle had been on her case about not doing her laundry. For the record, she didn't consider two pairs of pants; three tops, one being a tank top she had worn under one of the other shirts; and a few other random items of clothing, as being in need of doing laundry. She had all the time to do the laundry. It wasn't like she didn't have enough clothes to get through the rest of the week anyways.
Even today she managed to find an outfit in her, albeit slowly, dwindling closet full of clothes. While in New York she always had to have and wear the most expensive of clothes. Here though, while she still loved her designer brands, it didn't seem to matter much to her. Sure she would still dress up, but now she was actually comfortable wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
When she finally got bored of driving around town, she decided to go and visit Brandon. She didn't know wether or not he would be home, but she figured that she might as well see if he was. If he wasn't home, she could always text James to see if he wanted to hang out or something too. She pulled up to his house and parked her car by the driveway. She turned it off before pulling her keys out of the ignition and getting out.
The sun felt warm against her skin. This was one thing that she loved about Florida compared to New York, the sun. New York was cold this time of year, not that it really bothered her much before, but here it was summer weather all year round. She walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. She looked around as she waited for someone to answer the door. She didn't know if anyone was home, but she was hoping that at least someone was. She hated when she went to someone's house and no one was home. It made her feel like an idiot.
