She knew that he was mad at her for jumping to conclusions about some of the people that she used to hang out with. She listened to him talk about how they were all in relationships. She sighed again when he said that people change. Part of her knew that he was referring to her when he said it. She shook her head. "People don't change, Tyler, their situations do." It was the same line that her mother always fed to her growing up and she hated the fact that she was using it now.
She shrugged gently when he asked if she got along with her aunt and uncle. "They aren't so bad," She told him, "They just are always there and it seems like the never give me my space." She looked at him for a minute and shrugged again. "But it gets old after a while."
"I would honestly be scared of Delilah too," Melody told him, "She isn't one to be messed with. She definitely knows how to hold her own, that is for sure." She looked down at the desk at his words. They stung more than she thought that they would. She knew it was a mistake to just cut him out of her life and she regretted it, now more than ever. "I'm the same person you grew up with, Ty. Just tanner."
She shrugged and looked at him. "I guess that fun can be a good thing," She told him, "It is a better option than boring." She shook his head at him when he rolled his eyes. "Well, just don't say that about his name and we won't have to find out," She told him and smiled lightly. She sighed. "No, we aren't going to double date him. That would be, well, like you said, weird. But there is a party this weekend, like every weekend, and he will be there. You should come and I can introduce you two. And we could call it good."

Tyler knew he was being a bit of a jerk towards Melody, but what the brunette didn’t realise was that he’d been so in love with her and when she’d left she’d broken just a little bit of him. He’d just about healed and stopped missing her and right now she’d been slammed back into his life with absolutely no warning. He raised an eyebrow. ”Yeah perhaps. But it’s not like your still the same person as you were in New York, surely you’ve changed…?” He asked her curiously not believing that people didn’t change. In his opinion they were influenced by their situation which only assisted them to change.
He nodded as she told him her aunt and uncle weren’t so bad. ”Well least they care about you.” He offered, which was probably more than her parents ever did. Not that he would say that out loud; he wasn’t a complete moron and he knew he’d only upset her more than he probably already had. His intention wasn’t to hurt her, but he just didn’t really know how to act with her.
Tyler thought it was amusing that Melody was scared of his sister, given he could have probably asked Dels to turn against his ex best friend if he’d wanted to; since it was Delilah that had to pick up the pieces that Melody had unintentionally left scattered. ”Dels is strong… she’ll get over it at some point.” He shrugged, he wasn’t sure if they would ever completely be over the fact that their father was screwing someone not much older than them. He watched as she tore her gaze to the desk, he guessed his words weren’t particularly pleasant but he was just being honest. ”Yeah it might feel like that for you… but I don’t even know why you came here, so I can’t really pretend that were still close. I didn’t want you to leave, but I’d have dealt with it, and we could have stayed friends. You were the one that cut me out Mel.”
He nodded in agreement, Sophie was a lot of fun, and although she was annoying and ruined his sisters shoes; she’d been a good distraction. ”Okay so I’m meeting your boyfriend at a party, so am I gonna be your date? I guess I’d have to be really since I’ve not been invited.” He joked a little smiling at her. ”I guess it could be interesting… I’ll try and be on my best behaviour.” He told her nodding a little.

These word's are strapped inside my headT E L L M E T O R U N B E F O R E I'M D E A D ⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂ Melody looked at him for a moment before she shrugged. "I don't know," She told him, "I could have changed, but I really can't say if I have or not. To me, I am the same girl from New York that would rather go shopping then, well, pretty much anything. I would rather wear designer labels then be caught dead in t-shirts and shorts." She looked at him for a minute. "But I had to adjust to my surroundings. And so I did."
She nodded slightly. "Yeah, I guess that is a good thing," She said. She never really had parental figures that actually seemed to care about her or what she did. Her aunt and uncle though were different. "It is just different, you know? My mom and dad weren't like that."
She nodded again and smiled. "She is strong," She said in agreement. She looked at him and sighed as she listened to him. She had to admit that he made some really valid points. It was her that cut him out, not the other way around. After a few moments, she nodded again. "You're right. I did cut you out. I was the one that made the decision not to get in touch with you after I was forced it move down here. It was all me." She looked at him for a moment. "And I was being selfish by doing so. I know that. But at the same time, I knew that if I picked up the phone and called you that I wouldn't be able to survive down here."
Melody thought for a minute and then shrugged. "Not my date, per say," She told him, "More like a plus one." She smiled at him. "And you better be on your best behavior. I mean, you don't want to embarrass yourself or anything," She teased him lightly.

Tyler smiled at her and raised an eyebrow. ”You were obsessed with shopping.” He commented, knowing that Melody was one of the people that made him extremely conscious of what he was wearing. Tyler was rarely seen without designer labels and he usually wore the latest trends which, looking around the class room, was unusual for in Florida. ”Well, I hope the girl I knew is still in there… she was pretty awesome.” He told her before looking back to his work.
He understood how it was different with her aunt and uncle and he could only hope she’d accept it and allow them to support her; which was easier said than done. He knew that from experience. He’d never really gotten along with his father, he got on better with his mother but they were hardly close.
Tyler shrugged his shoulders and smiled, ”Yeah but how do you think I survived without you?” He asked her shaking his head. ”I never pinned you as that selfish Melody. I’d have come to visit you. You would have survived. I didn’t even know if you were alive. How do you think I felt?” His words were a little cold and his stare a little harsh. ”This isn’t the time or place to talk about this, but you were my best friend, and you just disappeared.” He stated before he glanced up at the clock. The lesson was almost over.
She told him he had to be on his best behaviour and teased him a little. He smiled at her but continued to clock watch. This meeting had been up and down, and he didn’t want to have to relay any more private information to her. He didn’t want to feel like he had to tell her that he had been in love with her, but the more time he’d spent with her the more those desires surfaced. ”So here’s my number.” He stated, scribbling it down on a piece of paper. It was the same one he’d had before she left. ”Drop me a line about the party. I got to go.” He told her as he stood up just as the bell went, grabbed his things and walked away from her.

Melody smiled and laughed lightly before she nodded. "I was obsessed," She said in agreement. "And I still am. That will never change. I just do most of my shopping on line now." This was true. There were really no decent places in Velocity to shop so she had to learn how to get her designer labels in other ways. Online shopping seemed to be one of the better accessible ways of doing so. She smiled at him again. "Trust me, the girl that you used to know is still here. She isn't going anywhere. I can promise you that."
She felt tears come to her eyes at his words, but she pushed them back. She wouldn't cry and if anyone was good at not showing emotions, it was her. She had come to master it over the years. The Upper East Side saw emotions as a sign of weakness and Melody was anything but weak. "God, I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean to hurt you. I, just, what do you want me to say, Tyler?" She sighed as he said that this wasn't the place to talk about it and she nodded lightly. He was right of course.
She looked down at the number. It was the same one that she still had programmed in her phone and knew by heart. The one that she could never get the courage to call since she had been down here. She sighed as the bell rang as she gathered up her books. She was confused now. Probably more than she had ever been before. She finished gathering up her books and then headed out into the hallways and the chaos of the students filling up the halls.
