Come in for dinner!” Hayleigh heard her mother call out, and with a quick roll of the eyes she turned the jets off the hot tub and dried off before putting her sun dress on. She walked right past the table and went into the bathroom, washing her hands to rid herself of germs before even attempting to sit down and eat with the family. This was her least favorite part of the day and she honestly didn’t want to bother with it, but she didn’t want to raise controversy either. She sighed before walking over to the table and eating with the family, but only consuming bits and pieces of the full plate that was presented in front of her. The table talked back and forth about their day and looked right over Hayleigh, not throwing any questions her way as it was that they were so indulged in their own conversation that the thought most likely didn’t even cross their minds. She didn’t mind it at all, in fact, her head was so far elsewhere that she didn’t really want to talk anyways, nor would she be able to hold a lengthy conversation, at least not with them.
“I’m gonna go upstairs,” she said as she excused herself from the table, hardly finishing the dinner at all, but no questions were raised and she was thankful for that. She quickly got online and decided to talk to Jason for a little bit, maybe that would make her feel better? Unfortunately, she found that he wasn’t online but instead someone else was, a good friend of hers, in fact. She IMed Elena and talked to her for a couple of minutes before they came to the conclusion that she was coming over, and she shut her computer down and went back down the stairs, into the backyard and over to the gate. They had been close friends for a while before hand and she knew that Elena knew the way to her house, so she wasn’t worried at all about if she would get lost or not. She leaned on the gate and looked up at the starlit sky, blowing outwards and watching a couple of strands of her hair fly upwards. It was a pretty night, and her dogs were running in circles in the deeper part of the yard.

[style=text-align: center] a beautiful nightmare [/style][style=font-size: 10px; line-height: 10px; padding: 25px; margin-top: -10px; color: CCCCCC;] Elena had finished all of that night’s homework, which meant that she had the entire night free. This was both a good and bad thing in her opinion, and she hadn’t decided which one was more dominant. On one hand, it gave her time to practise her songs for glee club and have room to make some plans with someone, but on the other, she was bored and had nothing to do. She’d signed online after dinner and had been talking to a few people for a while, but nobody was in the mood to do anything. It was apparently a lazy night for everyone, and Elena herself was debating having one as well. Before she could sign off, however, she saw Hayleigh sign in and immediately start talking to her. Hayleigh was one of her good friends, but she was betraying that friendship by hooking up with Jason behind her friend’s back. She knew better than anyone how much of a goody-two shoes the younger brunette was, so it was no wonder Jason always cheated on her. Sometimes, Elena felt really guilty since Hayleigh was a close friend of hers, but the desire to get Jason to herself always trumped that guilt. Now that she was possibly pregnant with his baby, it was getting even easier to win him over, so that was the plan until she took the test. If it was negative, she would think of another way to win him over, but if it was positive, she definitely didn’t have to worry since he’d already made it clear he wasn’t letting her go through it alone.
After a few minutes of talking to Hayleigh, the two decided that they were going to hang out. Smiling since she’d missed Hayleigh, Elena signed off her computer and went to dig out a bathing suit. The two of them didn’t hang out much anymore, mainly because Elena didn’t want to risk letting it slip that she was helping Jason cheat, but there was nothing wrong with occasionally hanging out. She was sure that Jason wouldn’t like that they had once he found out, but she didn’t care. Hayleigh was still her friend even though she was also competition now, and he didn’t control her nor could he tell her what to do and who to hang out with. She still had a life outside of Jason and their secluded nights together, and that wasn’t about to change. Hayleigh probably wasn’t the best choice of company after what had been going on, but it was better than nothing. Plus, it wasn’t like the two of them were sworn enemies now. These thoughts circled around Elena’s head as she changed into her bathing suit and pulled on a pair of shorts and a tank top over it, then grabbed her bag, cell phone and keys and headed out the door.
She’d gone to Hayleigh’s house many times in the past so she knew the way pretty well, and slowly made her way there. Night had fallen by now and a few stars were visible in the sky. There was a bit of a breeze, but it didn’t bother Elena in the slightest as she drove with her Mustang’s top down. After about ten minutes, she pulled up in front of the Sharpe house and parked at the side of the curb. Getting out of the car, she grabbed her bag and headed to the front door of the house. That was, until she spotted Hayleigh leaning on the gate leading into the backyard, and walked over to her instead. “Hey Hayls,” |
