DYLAN TODD O'RYAN
fifteen, freshman, straight, reserved, frustrated, josh hutcherson
A quiet kid, Dylan is an introvert with a talent for tripping over his own feet and getting stepped on in the process. He has a lot on his mind but lacks the motivation to say much about it. He's really not out to impress - perhaps he's even a bit arrogant for thinking no one is worth impressing. He's always flown under the radar, and really, no one has ever seemed to pay much attention to little Dylan O'Ryan. Certainly, people like him. He has friends, but in the end, he feels average at best. Or so he's let himself believe.
He fiddles around with baseball on occasion and can at least hold his ground in academics. In fact, he's decent at a lot of things, but he's yet to come across anything he really loves. He lacks passion, and because of this he finds himself stumbling through his freshman year. He feels intimidated in high school. He's surrounded by people who are smarter, better looking, and a heck of a lot more daring than he is, and frankly, he's lost. He's never run with any big dogs. He has plenty of potential - not a bad looking kid, pretty easy going. He's confident even, but for some reason he finds it hard to relate to his peers. He's not a party animal, definitely not up for drama. He feels he's boring simply because he behaves.
The only thing most of his classmates seem to remember about Dylan is that he's that pretty girl Diana's twin brother. Perhaps some would find it nice to have such a popular sister. You might get clumped in to attend some cool parties, maybe get a shot or two at dating her hot friends. But to Dylan, those aren't his concerns. He can't stand Diana. She's painfully stuck-up, bossy as can be, and Dylan is just as embarrassed to claim her as she is to him. He tolerates her at best. Dylan feels guilty, but he knows he doesn't love his sister as much as he used to.
Dylan doesn't show much feeling. He's a bundled up kid. He can't ever seem to handle heavy emotions and because of this, there's something to Dylan he's always afraid to face. IHe's hid from his family, his friends, and everyone else by making up excuses. "Oh, that plate? Sorry, Mom, I dropped it..." "The book was missing those pages when I found it." "I just bumped into the table by accident... I think one of the legs is a little wobbly. I had no idea I'd make it fall." In times of stress, confusion, or just plain anger, he has a habit of retaliating through violence... The destruction of objects. A wall to punch, a chair to throw, a book to tear. He's terrified of it, as when he's angry he's often blind. He's worried that one day, he'll lose control in front of a friend, or even a crowd. He's scared of hurting someone, and although he rarely reaches his destructive point, he's uncertain of how to control it when the time comes. So far, he's managed hiding his spells in private... but he doesn't know how much longer he'll be able to remain so lucky.

She'd failed. The good girl - the one so proud to admit that she was clean from everything. No drugs, no drinks, no sex. She'd never been afraid to admit anything she'd done. Nothing shamed her... until now. She was fully aware that plenty of girls her age had gone farther than what she'd just done with Russel. Hell, a few of them even wound up pregnant. But Audrey had always set herself apart. She behaved. She kept her boundaries in place through three years of high school. And now all that was lost in a moment of weakness. She'd let her pleasure get the best of her. And now, she felt spoiled.
One of Russel's hands wrapped around her waist. The other came up to hold her head to his shoulder. He didn't speak, but his embrace was pure comfort in itself. Yet her breath still quivered. She was still trying her hardest not to cry. This wasn't something to cry about, was it? He'd probably find her a fool if she did. But, her face still grew hot regardless, and her eyes glistened. She'd done something she'd sworn against. Something that would seem so miniscule to other couples but laid as a heavy brick on Audrey's chest. She pushed away from him slightly, still in his arms but moving just a bit to look him in the eye.
"Russel... I'm sorry."
Her voice came out of the silence. She'd let it happen. He'd always listened when she'd refused his attempts to go farther than kissing and cuddling. He'd always respected her firm control over his roaming hands and he'd been so patient with her. And now that she'd let her curiosity get out of hand, she was forcing Russel into feeling her guilt as well. "This is my fault."
